This
is for anyone in the dorms or with JMU internet. If you are off campus,
you can do these same things, but need the VPN client installed and
running to be able to connect.
From Kim Hart, Help Desk.
I talked to an
analyst and this is what they said.
Go to control panel----> Administrative tools------>
Local Security Policy
From there a new window should pop up... then they can click
Local Policies----> Security Options
Then scroll down on the one side to network security: LAN Manager
Authentication Level
Double click on it and click the drop down arrow to change
the box to Send LM & NTLM - use MTLMv2 session security if
negotiated.
The default setting on vista is not this and I'm told it prevents the network
drive from mapping.
Then follow the normal steps shown on self help
connect to remote access or the JMU wireless via the vpn
click the windows icon and computer
map network drive
chose a drive letter and then the server name which I
believe for me was
\\nwlab2.fs.jmu.edu\data
This has been tested by one of your classmates.
