JMU President Dr. Linwood H. Rose led a team of volunteers during the Harrisonburg Rockingham United Way’s annual Day of Caring. JMU senior administrators Dr. Mark Warner, Dr. Joanne Carr, Donna Harper, Art Dean and Nick Langridge joined President Rose at Friendship Industries for a day of hammering and sawing.
Dr. Rose told local reporters that he didn’t mind trading in his suit and tie for a pair of jeans: "It may not be a particularly challenging job, but at least it's something that you can start and finish and see your results."
Nick Langridge, assistant to the president, helped organize the event and is a board member at the United Way. JMU President Emeritus Ron Carrier is the Campaign Executive Officer for the organization’s 2008 capital campaign.
